Steven Michels is professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Global Affairs at Sacred Heart University, in Fairfield, CT, where he’s been since 2002. He’s currently serving as associate dean for academic affairs and the director of the Institute for Public Policy and Civic Engagement in the College of Arts and Sciences there.
His professional activities include curriculum and faculty development; educational effectiveness; undergraduate research; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Steven’s academic writing focuses on political theory, democracy, and popular culture. See his collected list of books, chapters and articles, book reviews and notes, and other scholarship.
Born and raised in southeastern Michigan, which is a great place to be from, Steven has also lived, studied, and worked in Athens (GA), Chicago, New Haven, New York City, and New Haven again, where he has a house with his partner Michael Vale.
When he’s not on campus, Steven is probably listening to or playing guitar in Missiles to Malta, following baseball and the Chicago Cubs, and playing with (and cleaning up after) Willa and Bevy.
